Founded in 1971 to advance the struggle for sexual liberation, Pink Triangle Press is Canada’s leading LGBT media organization. PTP publishes DailyXtra.com and the Xtra publications in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. PTP also operates the gay adult dating website Squirt.org, the travel website DailyXtraTravel, and has produced a number of television projects, including the travel show Bump! and The Gayest Show Ever.

ASSISTANT EDITOR (Toronto)
Pink Triangle Press is looking for an Assistant Editor for our print and online news and entertainment products Xtra! and DailyXtra.com. Together with the Managing Editor, the person in this position is responsible for effectively implementing editorial directives and objectives, and ensuring that content is relevant and thought-provoking. 
 
Note: This full-time position overlaps with PTP's Managing Editor, and includes weekend hours
 
If you are the right person for this role, you are capable of providing a critical perspective that engages readers in thoughtful discourse. Your editorial standards are impeccable (factual accuracy, consistency with editorial directions, fairness, and full cognizance of obscenity and libel law), and you are able to identify, research and present topics that reflect the zeitgeist of Canada's lesbian and gay communities. 
 
You will have additional proven skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Excellent editing and writing skills
  • The ability to build and maintain editorial networks and contacts within the community, and make connections within appropriate movements, communities, organizations and businesses
  • Experience supporting and monitoring staff/freelancers to achieve objectives

MEDIA PLANNER (Toronto)
PTP is looking for a Media Planner to drive quality traffic to PTP’s websites. 
 
This position is responsible for identifying the best mix of media channels to deliver advertising messages to the Press’ target audience to produce maximum exposure, within budget. 
 
If you are the right person for this role, you are able to achieve and exceed monthly and annual targets of the following metrics in regards to overall traffic and traffic type; including but not limited to: site visits, membership, revenue, bounce rate, CPA, ROI, and registration conversation rate. 
 
You will have additional proven skills and experience including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Obtaining, analyzing, and successfully applying media and traffic generation trends, best practices and strategies in the online and offline industry (with special attention to the gay and lesbian industry) to drive quality traffic to PTP websites
  • Analyzing and researching the target audience's character, purchasing, and media habits
  • Presenting media proposals, including timings and cost breakdowns, helping the Press to reach a final decision about their future advertising strategy
  • Managing budgets and maintaining advertising spend records
  • Monitoring and analyzing competition for media, PR, SEO, SEM and traffic generation activities
  • Utilizing tools (including but not limited to: Google, Bing, Facebook, and tier II and III search engines and traffic generators) to drive quality traffic
  • Expanding and optimizing SEO and SEM keyword lists 
  • Identifying key performance indicators related to media, online, and offline traffic generation activities
 
Required competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Business
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of online marketing, e-commerce, marketing communication
  • Proven strong analytical acumen and experience
  • Proven success of managing online campaigns, media relation and traffic generation
  • Knowledge of internet industry (interactivity, connectivity, e-commerce and enterprise)
  • Experience with web tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Yahoo, Bing ads, Traffic generator tools

DAILY XTRA EDITOR-IN-CHIEF (Toronto)
PTP is looking for an Editor-in-Chief for our online news and entertainment site, DailyXtra.com.
 
This position is responsible for the development of editorial strategies and tactics, management of staff, and production of editorial content to increase readership and engagement.
 
If you are the right person for this role, you are capable of producing engaging and entertaining multimedia journalism, growing our national and international online audience, and managing Daily Xtra’s ecosystem of journalistic production (including reporters, community, software, files, and processes). You will have excellent organizational and time management skills, planning and managing editorial calendars, and website news cycles. 
 
You will have additional proven skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Excellent editing and writing skills
  • Thorough understanding of copyright and libel law
  • Knowledge and experience with various forms of online journalism; creative packaging, multi-media, visual story-telling, live blogging
  • Experience working with editorial CMS foundations and web technologies
  • Web publishing skills; text, images, blogging, some familiarity with HTML and coding
  • Social media skills; content promotion; traffic building tactics and strategies
  • Understanding of traffic-driving social media strategies and tactics

NEWS REPORTER (Toronto)
Pink Triangle Press is looking for an intrepid News Reporter with strong news judgment and well-honed journalism skills for our Toronto office.
 
If you are the right person for this role you will be able to create print and on-line content that is relevant and thought-provoking, and provide a critical perspective that engages readers in thoughtful discourse. You will ensure that Editorial directives, standards, and objectives are implemented, and that content and information are effectively disseminated to Xtra's and DailyXtra's publics via all media employed.

You thrive on being a reporter, and are not afraid to tackle sensitive issues or ask hard questions. You have a natural "nose for news", and have the ability to identify great story ideas that reflect the zeitgeist of the LGBTIQ community. You are well able to research, produce, and edit assignments, as well as package the content for our print and on-line publications.   

You will have proven skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:

  • Editorial skills; writing, research, investigative journalism
  • Strong computer skills; MS Office Suite, print and electronic publishing, Internet
  • Good knowledge of Toronto's LGBTIQ community, sexual politics, and cultures

PRODUCT MANAGER (Toronto)

Pink Triangle Press is looking for a Product Manager with experience in  full cycle product management, including market research, strategy, usability, brand and design, analytics, and communication.

If you are the right person for this role, you will have experience in creating online product strategies and engaging online solutions through understanding business objectives and project requirements. You will have the ability to obtain and analyze online and general industry trends and business models, and proactively identify opportunities for growth within marketing and partnership channels in order to increase traffic and revenue.

Being web savvy, you will be able to work closely with the technical team to manage overall product scheduling, as well as to optimize and develop website features and function. You will have experience 'hitting the ground running' with new industries and products, and enjoy the challenge of learning something new. 

You will have proven skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of online marketing, product management, publishing, or project management
  • Proven strong analytical acumen and experience

ADVERTISING ACCOUNT MANAGER (Ottawa)

Pink Triangle Press is looking for an Advertising Account Manager for our Ottawa territory. The Advertising Account Manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding sales objectives in their assigned territory by promoting and selling display advertising by applying professional sales techniques, providing exemplary customer service, and building long term customer relationships.

If you are the right person for this role, you will have experience in reaching sales target goals, expanding client bases, attracting new advertisers, and establishing new advertising markets for both print and on-line venues.

Utilizing competitor information, market trends, and client knowledge you are adept at creating engaging presentations that effectively communicate and convince. Your excellent time management and organizational skills, combined with people skills that get your foot in the door without pushing, make you a valuable asset to the organization.

  • Experience in working with a CRM (preferably Sugar)
