PTP publishes DailyXtra.com and the Xtra publications in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. PTP also operates the gay adult dating website Squirt.org, the travel website DailyXtraTravel, and has produced a number of television projects, including the travel show Bump! and The Gayest Show Ever.

Pink Triangle Press is looking for an energetic, business-savvy Social Sponsorship Program Manager to head up our new Social Sponsorship program. The Social Sponsorship Program Manager will encourage and support activism in our LGBT communities, with an emphasis on activism that advances the mission and values of PTP.

If you are the right person for this role you will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and have the ability and experience to create partnerships that effectively bring together resources and causes. You will have the ability to oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of the social sponsorship program, including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities.

You will also have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. business administration, marketing) and experience in one or more of: fundraising, political organizing, sponsorship, sales or advertising.

Your additional proven skills and experience will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a related field
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google-based computer applications
  • Knowledge of sponsorship or corporate partnership program management
  • Experience in or knowledge of public relations, prospecting and negotiation
  • Familiarity with campaign management
  • Proficiency in computer-based simple accounting and database management
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Experience in employee management, including remote management
  • Event management skills, including superior meeting management skills

The candidate for this role must possess knowledge of the history, politics and circumstances of the Toronto gay, lesbian and related communities in which program clients and their issues are embedded.

Note: This is for an initial six month contract

Pink Triangle Press is looking for a Lead Web Developer to guide the development team in the ongoing development of our Squirt.org web products (http://www.squirt.org). The Squirt Lead Web Developer will work with the Squirt Web Development Project Manager, the rest of the development team, the Web Designer, the QA team, and Systems Administrators in the execution of software development processes to deliver quality, requirement-meeting software in a timely manner.

This job involves extended development work on a globally deployed mobile website with an interesting and challenging range of internationalization and content delivery challenges. Functionality includes video and geo-location technologies. We offer a unique and interesting work environment with flexible work hours and a cooperative, collaborative culture.

If you are the right person for this role you will have experience in guiding, mentoring, and leading development teams, as well as in implementing the appropriate tools and processes to facilitate the timely delivery of quality software. You will have practiced ability in organizing work breakdown structures and subsequent assignment of tasks to ensure each team member has an opportunity to grow and develop, while also ensuring that all deadlines are met. The Lead Web Developer will code with an approximate split of 60% team-lead and management, and 40% development work.

Your proven skills and experience will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years experience with .Net-based web development
  • Experience leading teams
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for software development life cycle
  • Windows Server, IIS, C#, ASP.NET
  • SQL Server, Redis
  • Experience with Classic ASP
  • Expertise with ASP.NET MVC Framework
  • Expertise with ASP.NET SignalR
  • Proficiency in current and emerging web-based technologies to include, but not be limited to: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular JS, XML/XSL, AJAX, JSON, Responsive Web Design

It would also be ideal if you have:

  • Mobile development experience (Web, iOS, Android)
  • Professional certification/accreditation (e.g. Microsoft Certified Professional, Scrum Master, etc)
  • Project management knowledge
  • Good understanding of technology infrastructure terms, concepts and technologies
  • Experience with Squirt.org from a user’s perspective

Pink Triangle Press is looking for a Manager, Marketing & Communications to build a favourable, positive image of the Press’ digital products in the eyes of the public by using creative marketing and communications techniques.

This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and measuring Pink Triangle Press’ marketing, communications, and public relations activities (both external and internal) and for delivering measurable, high quality projects and campaigns on time. The Manager, Marketing & Communications is also responsible for the strategic direction and execution of all external and user based communication of the Press’ digital products.

If you are the right person for this role you will have experience in researching and writing marketing copy for external articles, press releases, digital and print advertisement, e-mail, and website copy. You will have developed publicity, marketing, and promotional material, and will have experience in developing brand guidelines and key messages. Event planning to increase brand recognition will not be a new task to you, and you will have created and executed various other promotional activities to increase traffic, membership, and paid membership (including viral marketing activities). 

You will have proven skills and experience in the following main areas:

  • Educated to degree level in English, media studies, marketing, communications studies, journalism or an equivalent specialism.
  • Work experience in journalism, public relations or similar, preferably within a digital media environment.
  • Proven success in writing professional web and marketing copy, with the ability to produce compelling and optimized copy while maintaining brand messaging, persuasiveness, and readability.
  • Creative thinker with proven campaign experience.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret information, news, data, and research quickly, distilling the most important/relevant information to inform unique and innovative new content and creation ideas.
  • Knowledge of sexual politics and history
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
