Smalltown Boy turns 30 with reprise

The classic Bronski Beat song “Smalltown Boy,” about a gay boy who leaves his hometown and its oppressors to go after his dreams, is celebrating 30 years since its release.

In honour of the anniversary, Bronski Beat frontman Jimmy Somerville has recorded a new, chilling version of the classic song. Somerville is accompanied by Nick Nasmyth on the piano, and the result is more heart wrenching than ever:
