The PWA Foundation does post
The PWA Foundation does post audited annual financial statements on its website. But, the following tax-exempt non-profit or charitable organizations in the gay community do NOT appear to post audited annual financial statements on their websites: ACT, The 519, Inside Out, Community One Foundation and Pink Triangle Press (Xtra's owner). In the interest of transparency, I think the Canada Revenue Agency should require all tax-exempt, non-profit organizations and charities to post full financial statements on their websites. Until then, members of the gay community should demand that level of transparency from the organizations they donate money to, volunteer for, or otherwise support.
It's great that Pride Toronto
It's great that Pride Toronto is being so transparent by giving their audited annual financial statements to Xtra for website publication. Other non-profit organizations in the gay community (e.g., AIDS Committee of Toronto and The 519 Community Centre) don't include full audited annual financial statements in the "glossy" annual reports on their websites. The annual reports of ACT and The 519 only contain limited financial information - nothing like what Pride Toronto has given to Xtra. So, we don't know if those organizations also have related party transactions.
Hey kids! Remember when Pride
Hey kids! Remember when Pride Toronto cried that the "Israeli apartheid" issue was driving away sponsors and killing the festival?? (Boy, *I* sure do!)

Well, the budgets are in and sponsorship *increased* -- turns out their giant deficit is due to more spending, just like EVERYONE guessed. Still, all that arguing SURE was fun and valuable, right? Right? Hello?
My, My, My isn't this an
My, My, My isn't this an interesting turn of events. Tracey says her girlfriend isn't an employee but her girlfriend's company is being paid to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. Pride employees being laid off and at the same time the girlfriend continues to be paid. All approved by Mark Singh, whose boyfriend ran the gala, and Jim Cullen who fueled the QuAIA fiasco. Good work boys. What was traded in that deal? Clear to see. I want a forensic audit. What other issues will arise. Note to Tracey - those of us who had your back for a long time can't believe you had the nerve to pull this. Don't think you can do this and ramain standing. Don't let the door bang you on the ass on the way out baby. Et tu Brute.
HOW Do you say "CONFLICT of
HOW Do you say "CONFLICT of FUCKING INTEREST"?
Hm. And to think that
Hm. And to think that Executive Director Tracey Sandilands blatantly denied the fact that her wife was being paid by Pride Toronto when she was asked about this at the Annual General Meeting. It's interesting that the board -- or at the very least, the Co-Chair -- had nothing to say about this.
