Defending traditional marriage, defending the Caucasian race

I’m not going to go ahead and say that people who are homophobic are also racist. It’s possible to be one very special brand of stupid without being another. That being said, since stupidity is the root cause for both homophobia and racism, they are closely related.

Don’t believe me? Right now, North Carolina (surprised?) is debating Amendment 1, a bill that would ban gay marriage, as well as strip rights from people with civil unions. If that didn’t incite a face-palm, behold this jaw-droppingly stupid quote from the wife of a Republican senator, admitting that their entire basis for protecting “traditional marriage” boils down to protecting the Caucasian race. SERIOUSLY. (Via Gather)

“The reason my husband wrote Amendment 1 was because the Caucasian race is diminishing and we need to uh, reproduce.”

Wow, just . . . Holy shit. Have you ever had one of those moments where you’re confronted with so much stupid that your cerebral cortex just gives up and stops working? Jesus H Christ . . . I’m pretty sure my brain just shit in its own mouth.

Awesome, lady. Super awesome. Thank you for exposing the mind-numbing dumb behind homophobia and racism. I actually feel sorry for her, because it’s going to get so much worse for her. Gay people are eventually going to get the right to marry all over the world, her kids are going to grow up and start dating people who aren’t the same race and opposite gender, and she is either going to reform her ideology or die angry at everything.
