New Junior Boys…listen up

When they released Last Exit a few years ago, the Junior Boys added something to electronica that I can’t personally put into words. It’ would be in the top ten of my favourite records of all time.

With their new album, Begone Dull Care, they’ve deconstructed their spare sound and reassembled it into something new. Opening song “Parallel Lines” has a classic disco beat slowed down and icy-slick, like it was recorded in a freezer. Jeremy Greenspan’s voice…well, listen for yourself. This is a fan video and pretty clever too:

You may have seen me link out to “Work” on Twitter last Sunday, but I’m going to post it here too. Turn up your speakers and pay attention to the lyrics. Best song I’ve heard this year.

Love these guys and hope they keep making more music.
