Being Catholic made me a slut: Rupert Everett

Being Catholic made me a slut: Rupert Everett

"I was a slut," Rupert Everett tells the Sunday Times. "I loved sex." When the interviewer asks if he was promiscuous because he just really loved sex or if he was rebelling against his Catholic upbringing, Everett replies, "Both. You were told [at Catholic boarding school] that if you get a hard-on, you should turn over and say a Hail Mary. You somehow make it work for yourself, but it gives you lots of bubbles inside. I wanted to tear everything down, and the way I found to do it was sex. [My sexual partners] didn't necessarily have to be attractive. It depends how the lights are hitting you and how the drinks are hitting you. My whole life was about sex, really, in one way or another."

He makes some unusual
He makes some unusual comments. I sometimes wonder if he's really as awkward as he comes across in articles, or if the media uses only the sensational parts because an everyday Rupert wouldn't be good to read about. That said, I feel for the guy sometimes. While it's amusing to read about him in this context it's mostly cringe inducing in a "ooh, I wouldn't have said that" kind of way. It's the sort of comment that either begs for more or cuts you off because you're afraid of what else he might go into. Here at least he is being honest about sex, and you chose a flattering image of him.
